Helen Violet Settingsgaard (86) of Pepin, WI died Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand, WI. She was born March 22, 1930 in Red Wing, MN; daughter of Walter and Evelyn (Peniston) Hunecke. She attended grade school in Old Frontenac and Red Wing High School. After school she worked at the shoe factory. On March 13, 1950 she married Harley J. Settingsgaard in Monahan, Texas. They lived in Red Wing where she worked as a nurse's aide at St. John's Hospital for three years and City Hospital for two years, both in Red Wing. During that time she earned her LPN license.
In 1961 they moved to Motley, MN. She worked at Victory Memorial Hospital in Staples MN. for thirteen years as a LPN. In 1974 they moved to farm at Stanley, WI. In 1984 they moved to Pepin. Harley died November 24, 1989. Helen worked as bookkeeper at Pepin School and later at Alma High School.
She is survived by her sons, David Settingsgaard of Pepin, WI and Daniel Settingsgaard of FT. Worth TX. ; grandchildren, Cheryl and Adam.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harley Settingsgaard; brother, Vincent Hunecke.
