Muriel Hoffman Obituary
Muriel Edna Hoffman (84) of Durand, WI, died Thursday, June 28, 2018, at her home surrounded by family. She was born November 3, 1933 in Woodruff, WI, daughter of Harry and Olga (Berg) Weaver. She graduated from Nekoosa High School in 1951. Following high school she attended the Luther School of Nursing, graduating as a registered nurse in 1954.
On June 20, 1955, she married Vaughn Hoffman in Plum City, WI. She worked as a registered nurse at hospitals in Rice Lake, Plum City, and Durand. The last 20 years of her career were spent at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
Muriel enjoyed reading, bowling, golfing, fishing, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and going to the casino. Muriel and Vaughn traveled all over the world. For 43 years they had an annual family fishing trip to Canada. Since the 1990s, they spent most of their summers at their cabin north of Hayward. Muriel and Vaughn spent their winters in Arizona for the last 23 years.
She is survived by her husband, Vaughn of Durand; four children, Dave (Barb) Hoffman of Menomonie, Dan (Pat) Hoffman of River Falls, Tim (Julie) Hoffman of Durand and Jane (Chris) Flesher of Chippewa Falls; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three sisters, MaryAnn (Russell) Dunne, Judy Spice, and Nancy (Ron) Krohn; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Olga (Berg) Weaver; three brothers, Ellis, Michael, and William Weaver.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Durand United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Monday, July 2, 2018, at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
