Randy Marvin Girard (66) of Durand, WI died Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand. He was born May 4, 1947 in Durand, WI; son of Merwyn and Almeda (Peterson) Girard. He graduated from Neillsville High School. Following graduation he joined the United States Navy.
On May 11, 1968 he married Shirley Smith at the United Methodist Church in Durand, WI. Randy worked various jobs, including delivering propane in the Durand Area. He ended his working career at Menomin Energy, where he worked as a technician installing heating and air conditioning units. He proudly served on the Durand Fire Department for six years. Randy enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time with family, especially with his two granddaughters.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Girard of Durand, WI; son, Eric (Tania Plourde) Girard of Alma, WI; daughter, Kari (Charles) Wold of Alma, WI; two granddaughters, Allyson and Ayla Girard of Wabasha, MN; brothers Jaye (Lisa) Girard of Albuquerque, NM, Paul (Tamie Fetzer) Girard of Mondovi, WI; sisters, Peggy (Harvey) Goltz of Gatesville, TX, Elly (Pete Odegard) Girard of Mondovi, WI.; sister-in-law, Joyce Girard of Dallas, TX; step-mother, Alice Girard of Durand, WI; step-brother, Don (Darlene) McRoberts of Minneapolis, MN; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norm and Verta Smith; sister-in-law, Sue (Mike) Doney of Eau Claire, WI, brother-in-law, Dennis L. (Beth) Smith of Elk Mound, WI; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, Merwyn and Almeda (Peterson) Girard; brother, James Girard; step-brother, Robert McRoberts; nephew, Jeremy Goss.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm, Thursday, February 20, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Durand with Pastor Tammy Clausen officiating. Military rites will follow the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 pm until time of services at the church.
