Stephen Brantner Obituary
Stephen Joseph Brantner (64) of Durand died unexpectedly of a heart attack at home on Sunday, December 8, 2013. He was born August 12, 1949 in Durand and remained in the area the majority of his lifetime. He was the son of Bernard "Bernie" J. and Irma (Fichtenbauer) Brantner.
He attended elementary school at St. Mary's, Lima High School until its closing, and then graduated from Durand High School in 1967. He was a star basketball player. Stephen served four years in the United States Air Force. He returned home in 1972, he was a business owner and worked at Bauer Built Tire for twenty-three years, the last thirteen were as the Warehouse Manager. He married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl in March of 2001.
Stephen was an avid fisherman, Green Bay Packer Backer, car collector and card player who enjoyed watching any sport and spending hours in his Man Cave, Packer Shack.
We will always be reminded of Stephen's dry sense of humor, quick wit and stubbornness with a smile. He was well known for his adherence to a schedule and getting right to the point. His life and memories of him will be cherished by all who knew him. He was truly a kind, generous and remarkable man. Instead of flowers or monies to the family, Stephen's desires were that you Pay it Forward as an act of anonymous generosity and imagine their wondrous smile.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Brantner; daughter, Kirsten Brantner (Adam) Richardson; grandson, Alex; parents; Bernard "Bernie" J. and Irma (Fichtenbauer) Brantner; sister, Ruth (Bruce) Benson all of Durand, WI; brothers, Roger Brantner of Elizabeth, NJ and Robert (Michelle) Brantner of Locke, NY; many other close relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; aunt, Elizabeth "Betty" Webb; nephew, Jim Brantner.
