Vernon Moline Bengtson

Vernon Moline Bengtson, age 97, of Maiden Rock, died on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand. He was born on April 28, 1920 in Stockholm to George and Agnes (Moline) Bengtson. He attended school in Stockholm and later at Plum City High School. Vernon farmed all of his life in Maiden Rock. He was united in marriage to Mabel Wahlund on April 17, 1943 and together they had three children. Mabel died on June 24, 2004. He was a lifetime member of the Lund Mission Covenant Church, where he served as treasurer for several years. He helped restore the Swedish Methodist Church in Lund. He loved spending time with family and friends.

Vernon is survived by his three children, Dale Bengtson of Independence, Ronald (Brenda) Bengtson of Medford, and Linell (Larry) Gilles of Hudson; six grandchildren, Davin (Brenda) Bengtson, Dawn Wood, Brett Bengtson, Carrie (Nick) Ziembo, Tanya (Lucas) Trieb, and Nicole (Jeremy) Spaude; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Gordon Bengtson of Red Wing, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel Bengtson; parents, George and Agnes Bengtson; and two brothers, Wayne and Donald Bengtson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Lund Mission Covenant Church with Reverend Darren Catron officiating. Burial will follow at Marie Lund Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am Thursday until the time of the service. Goodrich Funeral Home, Durand is assisting the family with arrangements.
