Wayne McDonough Obituary

Wayne Kenneth McDonough Sr. (96) of Plum City, WI died Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand. He had been a recent resident of the Plum City Care Center. Wayne was born April 12, 1917 in Modena Township, Buffalo County, WI; son of Thomas and Christina (Larson) McDonough. He attended the Sessions School in Modena. He farmed on the home farm and hired out to area farmers.

On September 27, 1939 he married Gladys Stewart at the Methodist Parsonage in Arkansaw. They farmed in Frankfort Township, Pepin County and surrounding area. In 1956 they started farming in the Plum City area. They moved to Plum City in the spring of 1992. Wayne was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plum City.

He was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, Plum City Blues and enjoyed watching the high school basketball and baseball teams. Wayne enjoyed going for walks through the streets of Plum City, keeping them clean and visiting with people along the way. The Village of Plum City commended him for keeping the streets of Plum City clean.

He is survived by his children; Marlene (William) Baker of Plum City, Wayne (Jean) McDonough Jr. of Plum City, Joyce (Bert) Grochowski of Arkansaw, Sandra (Brad) Haycraft of Prior Lake, MN, Thomas (Lori) McDonough of Plum City; ten grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; three step-great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys McDonough; parents, Thomas and Christina (Larson) McDonough; brothers, John and Floyd McDonough; sisters, Julia Bloom, Myrtle Jordet, Gladys Jensen, Clara Brown, Francis Moats.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, January 5, 2014 at Ono Methodist Church (at the intersection of Hwy. 10 & Co. Rd. CC) with Pastor Shannon Mattison officiating. A spring burial will be at the Union Cemetery in Plum City. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand is assisting the family.
