Joseph Mattson Myers, 93, formerly of Eau Galle, WI died Saturday, April 20, 2024 at The Homeplace in Durand. He was born July 14, 1930 in Eau Galle; son of Albert and Lida (Walker) Myers. He graduated from Durand High School.
On May 6, 1953, Joe married Doris Morgan. They celebrated their 70th wedding Anniversary on May 6, 2023. After marriage they settled on the original Myers farmstead in the town of Eau Galle and farmed until they sold the farm in the late 90s. After retirement from the farm Joe worked at Federal Foam in Ellsworth until the age of 70.
Joe enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing dart ball and hunting for treasures at thrift sales and auctions. Following retirement Joe and Doris spent their time playing cards at the Eau Galle Senior Center and enjoying making memories with their children and grandchildren. Joe and Doris moved to The Homeplace of Durand in the fall of 2019 and Doris later moved to Heritage Court Memory Care of Eau Claire in the fall of 2022. Doris died March 22, 2024.
He is survived by his children Albert (Rose) Myers, Woodville, Linda (Steve) Talford, Durand, Bob Myers (Paula Molitor), Merrill and Sue (Derek) Weidner, Stanley; grandchildren Eric (Brenda) McRoberts, Becky (J J) Northrop, Troy Talford and Marissa Myers (Daniel Schruck); Step-Grandchildren Jeremy (Kristen) Schlosser and Corey Schlosser; Great-Grandchildren Briella, Zander, Grayson, Riley, Addyson and step-great grandchildren Jeffrey, Mariah, Abigail, Madison, Peyton, Kipton and Lilly; sister, Zeona Bechel; brother-in-law, Harold Morgan, sister-in-law Sondra Morgan and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Doris; parents, Albert and Lida (Walker) Myers; sisters, Loma(Ralph) Hetrick and Alberta (Merlin) Peterson, daughter-in- law, Susanne Myers; his in-laws, James and Bertha Morgan, Iola (Joe), Raymond, Bill, Catherine and Pat.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Clearview Cemetery in Eau Galle, WI.
