Lorraine D. Anderson, 92, of Arkansaw died Saturday, January 20, 2024 at the Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie, WI. She was born July 3, 1931 in Arkansaw, WI; daughter of Wallace and Dorothy (Foster) Gifford. Lorraine grew up in Arkansaw where she attended school.
Shortly after high school Lorraine married Vernon Anderson at the United Methodist Church on December 3, 1951 in Arkansaw. After marriage they moved to Alaska where Vernon was stationed in the Army. A couple years later they returned to Arkansaw with their oldest daughter where they farmed on her parent’s farm. In 1961, they moved to Glenwood City, WI with their four children for 19 years. During that time Lorraine worked at Fabric-Tek in Amery, WI for seven years. In November of 1980 they settled back in Arkansaw at her home farm where she helped to work on the farm.
Lorraine had a big heart as she was kind and caring to all. She always welcomed everyone with open arms. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her son Alan (Shelly) Anderson of Arkansaw, daughter JoAnn Cossin (Zeke Blanchard) of Durand, son-in-law Larry McNamara of Glenwood City, brother Ronald Gifford of Peshtigo and sisters-in-law, Sandy Anderson of Durand and Mary Harmon of Arkansaw. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by parents Wallace and Dorothy Gifford, husband Vernon Anderson, two daughters Diane Anderson and Debbie McNamara and brothers Wallace and Gene Gifford.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 29, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Arkansaw with Pastor Paolo Vasquez officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00- 1:00 at the church. Burial will be in the Arkansaw Memorial Cemetery.
