Bernice Mueller Obituary
Bernice Margaret (Lenhart) Mueller (97) of Durand, WI passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Oakview Care Center in Durand. She was born May 19, 1916 to Wesley and Margaret (Frank) Lenhart in Pepin County. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She attended the Little Plum Country School and graduated from Durand High School in 1933. She moved to Two Rivers, WI and worked at Hamilton Mfg. Co, and on October 14, 1936 she married Clarence Mueller. They made their home in Two Rivers for 17 years and had two children; Jerrold in 1942 and Sandra in 1946. They moved to Pepin, WI in 1951 and operated Mueller Transfer business for 4 years, then moved to Durand in 1955. Clarence (Buckshot) and Bernice opened the first coin operated Laundromat in 1959, and also owned the B&B Bar for many years. Clarence died in 1971.
Bernice was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and an active member of the Ladies Aid group for over 50 years. She also was an active member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and held many offices throughout the years. She was so very proud of her brother, Lloyd Lenhart, who was a pilot in WWII, flying 50 missions in the war zones before returning home. Bernice worked as a bookkeeper for Fisher Well Drilling and later at the Durand Hardware before retiring. She loved cooking, crocheting, embroidery and gardening. She loved all of her family and friends unconditionally and will be sadly missed by everyone that knew her.
She is survived by her two children; Jerrold (Freda) Mueller of Minneapolis, MN; Sandra (Don) Anderson of Durand, WI; Grandchildren; Tony (Niccole) Morris of Durand,WI, Brenda (Owen) Mueller of Issaquah, WA, Shellae Mueller of Minneapolis, MN, Krista (Steve) Karger of Ellsworth, WI, and Melissa (Paul) Seeber of Hudson, IA; Great Grandchildren, Andrew and Evan Morris and Abby Karger. Other relatives include sisters-in-law, Joan Lenhart, Violet Shedivy, Dee Mueller and Gloria Mueller. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, LeRoy and Lloyd Lenhardt; brothers-in-law, Bill and Duane Mueller; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ahrndt; grandson, Arni Anderson.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Pfaffe officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.
