Dale Diedrich Obituary
Dale L. Diedrich, 73, of Pepin, WI died Saturday, June 21, 2014 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born November 4, 1940; son of Eunice (Wilke) and Henry Diedrich. Dale graduated from Athens High School, Athens, WI in 1958 and attended University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture Education in 1962 and was then employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
On June 15, 1963 he married Donna C. Gebert at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, WI. In August 1963 Dale was hired by Pepin High School to re-establish the Agriculture Department. He continued his education and earned a Master of Science degree in Teaching in 1968. He then began working for the University of Wisconsin Extension as a 4-H Youth Agent. In 1971 he was hired by District 1 Technical College (Chippewa Valley Tech) in Eau Claire, WI where he taught until his retirement in 1998. In 1985 Dale became part of the People to People International cultural exchange tour to China during which time he gave an agricultural presentation at Beijing University.
Dale enjoyed hunting, fishing and farming, especially growing giant pumpkins. He was a member of the Pepin Sportsman's Club and the Pepin Lions Club.
Dale is survived by his wife Donna; daughters Dawn (John) Ridgway of Burnsville, MN and Denise (Frank) Arre of New Richmond, WI; grandchildren Bryant Ridgway, Jack Ridgway, Dylan Arre and Isabelle Arre; brothers, Glenn Diedrich of Cassville, WI and Dennis (Mary Jo) Diedrich of Menasha, WI; sisters-in-law, Audrey Juedes of Abbotsford, WI and Shirley Rau of Franklin, WI; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2014 with lunch to follow at Sabylund Lutheran Church in rural Lund with Pastor D. Sandahl officiating.
