Darlene Jahnke Obituary
Darlene Ducile Jahnke (94) of Pepin, WI died Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Advent Health in Durand, WI. She was born May 27, 1924 in Plum City, WI; daughter of Ernest and Helen (Ingli) Kosok. She attended school in Plum City.
On September 30, 1942 she married Laurence Jahnke at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plum City, WI. They farmed for 30 years. After farming, they bought a house and Laundromat in Pepin. They also owned a bowling alley in Wabasha. They built a new home in Pepin near the Pepin Park. In 1993 they moved to an apartment in the Pepin County Housing Authority. Darlene worked for the Pepin County Meals-on-wheels, delivering meals around the Pepin area for over 14 years. Laurence died in 1996. In 2017, Darlene moved from the apartment to the Pepin Manor.
Darlene loved playing cards, visiting with people and gardening. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin, serving on the ladies aide and active in other church activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Bob) Seiford of Cottage Grove, MN; two grandchildren, Ron(Linda) Seiford and Sandra(Glenn) Clark; two great-grandchildren, Matthew and Benjamin Seiford; two step-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Ian Clark; special niece, Aleeta (John) Hetrick; special nephews, Albert (Vicki) Kosok, Kevin (Cindy) Kosok, Alan Jahnke and many, many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Laurence Jahnke; and brother, Wayne Kosok.
Memorial services will be 11:30 am on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin, WI with Pastor Karna Marks officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 am until time of services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date in Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin. Goodrich Funeral Home is assisting the family.
