Doris D. Kern
Doris Dorraine Kern (93) of Elmwood, WI died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home where she had been a resident. She was born April 4, 1918 in Eau Galle Township, Dunn County, Wisconsin; daughter of Iva Kirscher. She attended West Frankfort School.
On November 26, 1935 she married Alvin K. Kern in Durand, Wisconsin. They farmed in Elk Creek, Frankfort Township, Pepin County until 1948 when they moved to Red Wing, Minnesota. Doris worked at Red Wing Pottery for ten years as the head artist on the assembly line. ln 1950 they bought a farm near Bay City, Wisconsin where they farmed until 1958 when they bought a farm in Pierce County near Rock Elm. They farmed there until 1978, when after retirement, they moved to their home in Weston Township, Dunn County. Alvin died May 7, 1993.
She was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Elmwood. She enjoyed dancing, gardening and spending time with her family.

Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Elmwood. Pastor Charles DeMaris officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Durand. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.
