Elaine Claflin Obituary
Elaine Mildred Claflin (87) of Arkansaw, WI died Thursday, August 21, 2014 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Menomonie, WI. She was born April 17, 1927 in Elmwood, WI ; daughter of Johley and Alice (Snider) Hoyt. She attended school in the Elmwood area.
On January 12, 1946 she married Jesse Claflin at the United Methodist Church in Durand, WI. Elaine was a cook at the Elmwood Area Schools for many years. She then worked at Chippewa Valley Hospital and Oakview Care Center for 22 years where she was the head of housekeeping. She retired in September of 1995.
Elaine enjoyed cooking, fishing and loved to spend time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Jim (Marie) Claflin of Ellsworth, WI, Judy (Tom) Condon of Arkansaw, WI, Roger (Pat) Claflin of Durand, WI; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grand children; one great-great grandson; sisters, Donnis (Art) Delong, Luann Wood (Arnie Anderson), Arla (Durwood) Scholz, Opal Larson; brothers, Eldon (Linda) Hoyt, Delton (Sue) Hoyt, Denton (Donna) Hoyt; many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesse; parents, Johley and Alice (Snider) Hoyt; siblings, Elgie, Virgil, Orville, Verla and a sister in infancy.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating. Burial will be at Clearview Cemetery in Eau Galle, WI.
