Gordon W. Keesling
Gordon W. Keesling , a World War II Veteran, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012 after a very short stay at the Pepin Manor. He had been disabled for quite a while. He was born in Wayzata, MN on July 20, 1922. In 1947 he married Lorene Fleming from Stockholm, WI. They lived in Hopkins, MN for over twenty years. He installed linoleum, tile and formica counters in many Twin Cities area homes. He was a member of the Carpenters Union. In 1970 they moved to the Stockholm- Pepin area, bought a hobby farm and ran a second hand store with antiques from there. Gordon loved to hunt, fish and garden. For ten years he and Lorene headed south for the winters but then decided to stay put and enjoy the WI winters. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Wallace & Dorothy Keesling. He is survived by his wife, Lorene of sixty-five years and four children: Keith (Janis) Keesling of Vadnais Heights, MN , Dawn (Tom) Fischer of Red Wing, MN & Apache Junction, AZ; Renee (Gary) Elberg & Dorothy (Jason) Peters both of Pepin, WI., eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brother, Jerry Keesling of Big Lake, MN and sister, Beverly Bernhardt of Duluth, MN. We will all miss him so much.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin with Pastor Karna Baseman officiating. Military rites will be provided by Durand American Legion post #181. A memorial gathering with a luncheon will follow at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Hall in Pepin. Friends may also call one hour prior to the graveside service at the church. Goodrich Funeral Home is assisting the family.
