Irene Weihert Obituary
Irene Raethke Weihert (87) of Nelson, WI, formerly of Pepin, WI died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at the Plum City Care Center. She was born May 16, 1931 in South Dakota;
daughter of Iver and Grace (Shannon) Ede.
On June 24, 1950 she married Wayne Raethke. They lived in Bristol, SD for two years before moving to Pepin, WI. Together they had two daughters, Sue and Debbie. Wayne died May 4, 1986. On September 16, 1989 she married Norm Weihert and they resided in Pepin and Nelson. Following Norm's death Irene married Alex Kadinger.
Irene worked as a food service manager at the Pepin Manor for many years. She also taught piano and organ lessons to the young and old. She was an organist at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin for many years; she also played at churches in Nelson, Wabasha and later Elmwood. She always found a place to play where ever she went. She enjoyed sewing and reading. Irene enjoyed a good laugh with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Sue (Kelley) Myers of Ellsworth, WI and Debbie (Randy) Samuelson of Red Wing, MN; grandchildren, Amanda (Cory) Whipkey, Ryan (Michelle) Samuelson, Mitchell (Abbey) Myers, Nicholas (Melanie) Myers; and several great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Wayne Raethke, Norm Weihert and Alex Kadinger.
Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin, WI with Pastor Karna Marks officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin.
