Janette Longsdorf Obituary
Janette Arlene Longsdorf (70) of Durand, WI died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Oakview Care Center in Durand. She was born July 24, 1942 in Pepin, WI; daughter of Archie and Doris (Brantner) Byington. She graduated from Pepin High School.
On October 22, 1962 she married Jay Longsdorf in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. They lived in the Pepin- Stockholm area until moving to Durand in the early 70's. Jay died June 14, 2007. Jan was a cook for the Durand area schools for over thirty years. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and family. She enjoyed camping, cooking, her Tuesday afternoon gatherings with friends and her gambling trips with Aunt Rose.
She is survived by her children, Mike (April) Longsdorf of Durand, WI and Rhonda Risler (Dale Steeves) of Mondovi, WI; grandchildren, Keely and Krisalyn Longsdorf, Kobe Humphrey, Nick and Taylor Risler; brother, Don Byington of Wabasha, MN; step-brothers, Roger, Dale, Ed and Otto Sanders & their families; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, especially her lifelong friend & cousin, Carol Brommer. She is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Doris (Brantner) Byington; husband, Jay; daughter, Paula Longsdorf; step-dad, Gene Sanders; infant brother, Michael; brother, Kenny (bye-bye) Byington; sisters, Jeanne Reinhardt and Judy Fitschen.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Little Plum Lutheran Church with Minister Yvonne Wilken officiating.Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin, WI. Friends may call from 5:00- 8:00 pm Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
