Laura Wekkin Obituary
Laura Marjorie Wekkin (90) of Durand died Monday, March 5, 2012 at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand, Wisconsin. She was born December 31, 1921 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin; daughter of Victor & Muriel Throne Soden. She attended Durand area country schools and the Durand High School.
On June 1, 1938 she married Darrel Wekkin in Wabasha, MN. They farmed in the town of Maxville, Buffalo County and Prissel Valley in Lima Township. Darrel died November 12, 1998. Laura also worked as a cook at Club 10 for thirty-five years. In 1988 Laura started helping her daughter Sharon with her catering business. Besides working on the farms and cooking she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was a very active member of the United Methodist Church in Durand serving on many of the church circles. Her greatest joys were spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Durand. Pastor Bruce Gardow officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00-8:00 p.m Friday at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to the United Methodist Church.
