Leroy Winberg Obituary
LeRoy Grant Winberg, 83, of Pepin, WI died Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at St. Elizabeth's Health Care Center in Wabasha, MN. He was born July 7, 1936 in Plum City, WI; son of Grant and Verona (Anderson) Winberg.
He attended Barry Corner School and Pepin Area School. In his younger days, he hauled cattle to the St. Paul stockyards for his uncle. He had a milk route for years and then worked for John Deere Implement before he started working for the town of Pepin. LeRoy retired in September of 2004 after 44 years.
On February 8, 1964 he married Barbara Fayerweather in Stanley, WI. In 1966 they bought a farm in Pepin Township, were they lived until their retirement, when they moved into Pepin in 2004. Following his retirement with the town of Pepin, LeRoy drove the distribution truck for the Countryside Co-op for four years; then for ten years he washed school buses, inside and out, for the Pepin Area Schools.
He enjoyed Lutefisk dinners, going out to eat with friends, hunting and gardening. He grew squash, which he shared with anyone who wanted it. He helped at tractor pulls, but mostly LeRoy loved to visit with people.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; brother, Dean (Sharon) Winberg; nieces, nephew, cousins and many many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Grant and Verona (Anderson) Winberg; and his favorite dogs, Butch and Buffy.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Pepin with Pastor Lisa Weaver officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin, WI.
