Lorene E. Keesling
Lorene Elizabeth Keesling (86) of Bay City, WI died April 16, 2012 at the Pepin Manor in Pepin, Wisconsin. She was born April 8, 1926 in Stockholm Township, Pepin County, Wisconsin; daughter of Edward & Lily Weitz Fleming. She attended school in Stockholm and Maiden Rock. In 1947 she married Gordon Keesling. They lived in Hopkins, MN for over twenty years. Lorene worked for General Mills and as a secretary for the Hopkins South Junior High school for five years. In 1970 they moved to the Stockholm-Pepin area, bought a hobby farm and ran a second hand store with antiques. She was a teller at the Bank of Alma for several years. For ten years she and Gordon headed south for the winters but then decided to stay put and enjoy the Wisconsin winters. She loved gardening, embroidery and baking bread by hand every week.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; her parents, Edward & Lily Weitz Fleming; brother, William; sisters, Anna Mae Fleming and Beatrice Samuelson. She is survived by four children: Keith (Janis) Keesling of Vadnais Heights, MN, Dawn (Tom) Fischer of Red Wing, MN & Apache Junction, AZ; Renee (Gary) Elberg & Dorothy (Jason) Peters both of Pepin, WI., eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; brothers, James (Marilyn) Fleming of Prescott, WI, Harold Fleming of Pepin, WI; brother-in-law, Jerry Keesling of Big Lake, MN and sister-in-law, Beverly Bernhardt of Duluth, MN; many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Friday, April 20, 2012 at Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin with Pastor Karna Baseman officiating. A memorial gathering with a luncheon will follow at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church Hall in Pepin. Friends may also call one hour prior to the graveside service at the church. Goodrich Funeral Home is assisting the family.
