Raymond Seipel Obituary

Raymond Arnold Seipel, age 86, of Plum City, died Monday, December 23, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Eau Claire. He was born on May 1, 1933 in Frankfort Township, Pepin County; son of Theodore and Evelyn (Rageth) Seipel. On February 25, 1956, he was united in marriage to Ida Foster. The couple later settled on Gates Hill Road in rural Plum City and raised five children. Raymond proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War era. He was a longtime member of Maiden Rock American Legion Post 158. He was self-emplyed for many years as a brick and block mason. Raymond was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and looking for ginseng. He was not much of a traveler, but would always make the trip for a good fish fry. He loved to have his family over to visit and will be deeply missed by them all.

Raymond is survived by his wife of almost 64 years, Ida Seipel of Plum City; two sons, Steve (Tena) Seipel of Pepin and Stan (Nancy) Seipel of Tomah; two daughters, Julie (David) Bauer of Hayward and JoAnn ( Bill) Vasey of Oxford, AR; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; brother, Daniel (Pat) Seipel of Pepin; two sisters, Geraldine (James) Hetrick of Pepin and Sue Seipel of Arkansaw; two brother-in-laws, Arthur (Ann) Foster of Mondovi and Hubert Foster of Stockholm; sister-in-law, Mary Foster of New Hampshire; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Seipel; brother, Ronald Seipel; three sisters, Betty Jean Kralewski, Shelvidene (Neil) Sutherland, and Joyce (Mike) Murray; two brother-in-laws, Floyd (Nancy) Foster and Henry Foster; and three sister-in-laws, Estella Foster, Doris Fuller, and Alice (Philip) Brantner.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am before funeral services are held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Arkansaw with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating. Burial will be held at Porcupine Cemetery at a later date. Goodrich Funeral Home is assisting the family.
