Steve Breitung Obituary

Stephen Earl Breitung (71) of Pepin, WI died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Pepin Manor. He was born January 26, 1942 in Pepin, WI; son of Earl and Mabel (Schultz) Breitung. He graduated from Pepin High School in 1960. Following high school Steve attended UW-La Crosse and then the Buffalo County Teachers College in Alma, WI. From 1963 - 1964 he taught school in Elk Mound until commercial fishing called him back to Pepin where he served as mayor, served on the Village Board and was a member of the Lions Club. Steve enjoyed trapping, hunting, fishing. and loved to visit with friends around town.
He is survived by his nephew, Tod (Dana) Wollschlager of Cottage Grove, MN; great-niece, Cassandra Wollschlager of Cottage Grove, MN; special friend, Jane Bauer of Eau Claire, WI; along with many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mabel (Schultz) Breitung; twin sisters, Jean and Jane Breitung; sister and brother-in-law, Della & Leo Wollschlager.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Lions Club in Pepin. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand is assisting the family. To express condolences on-line visit www.goodrichfh.com
