Alice May Girard

Alice May Girard, 88, of Durand, died Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Plum City Care Center. She was born January 20, 1933 in Durand, WI; daughter of George and Hazel (Cowell) Soden.

 On October 15, 1950 she married Donald G. McRoberts Sr. They lived in Milwaukee where they raised their two sons, Donald and Robert. Donald and Alice later divorced. Alice married Bob Morey in Milwaukee, they retired and moved to Durand. He died April 7, 1989. On November 8, 1991 she married Merwyn Girard in Eau Claire. Merwyn died May 3, 2009.

Alice enjoyed visiting with people, gardening, writing poems and traveling. She was also a lay minister and was an active member of the Durand United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Donald (Darlene) McRoberts of Minneapolis, Minnesota; step-children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her loyal companion, Foxy. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Hazel (Cowell) Soden; husbands, Bob Morey, Merwyn Girard; son, Robert McRoberts; siblings, Mildred, Mabel, Marion and George. 

Memorial services will be 11:00 am on Friday, September 24, 2021 at the United Methodist Church in Durand with Pastor Grace Baldridge officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand, WI is assisting the family.
