Arthur David Herbison

Arthur (Art) Donald Herbison, 86, of Pepin, WI passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Plum City Care Center. Art was born on November 18, 1934 in Pierce County, WI; son of Donald and Gladys Herbison. He graduated from Plum City High School in 1953, then joined the United States Army and served for 3 years in the 11th Airborne Division.  He married Shirley McLaughlin on October 27, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Plum City, WI. They raised 8 boys in their rural Plum City home, later moving to Pepin, WI while the 3 youngest boys were in high school.

Art continued to serve his community by being an active member of the Plum City American Legion Post #365 for over 43 years, and as the State Commander for the American Legion in 1999 - 2000, leading 75,000 legionnaires in the state. He also served many years on the school board in Pepin. He retired from years of being a rural mail carrier for the Maiden Rock - Stockholm post office. Arthur enjoyed traveling with Shirley to Legion Conventions, and attending his children and grandchildren’s many events.

He is survived by his sons, Randall, Wendell, Gary (Cheryl), Eddy (Karen), Calvin, Brian (Sharon), Dana (Lisa); and daughter-in-law, Cathy Herbison; 18 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and his sisters Margaret and Helen. He is preceded in death by his wife Shirley; son Eric Herbison; his parents, and brother Howard and sister Pat.

A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at Union Cemetery in Plum City, WI with Pastor Dan Richardson officiating.
