Beverly Jean (Compton) Baker

Beverly Jean Baker, 81, of Pepin, WI died Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse, WI. She was born December 19, 1940 in Pepin, WI; daughter of Theodore and Wilma (Peterson) Compton. She graduated from Pepin High School.

On June 20, 1959 she married Larry Baker at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin. Bev work various jobs around the area, including Schruths, the Pepin Hotel, Riviera Cabinets and Treasure Island Casino.

Bev enjoyed bird watching, gardening, polka dancing, canoeing and had a great love for animals. She enjoyed traveling, her favorite place to visit was Branson, MO. Bev loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She was a very active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, where she quilted and helped with lunches.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Baker of Pepin; children, Julie (Scott) Baker-Marcks of Pepin, Larry (Donna) Baker of Arkansaw, and Jennifer Baker- Fetzer of Pepin; six grandchildren, Derek Marcks, Taryn Schruth, Dylan and Devin Fetzer, Brett and Joey Baker; four great-grandchildren, Taylee, Morgan, William, and Aiden; sisters, Donna Foster and Sherrie (Don) Covert; and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Wilma (Peterson) Compton; sister, Joyce Compton; niece, Kimberly Compton.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pepin. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pepin.
