JoAnn Stewart Obituary

JoAnn Stewart, age 85, of River Falls, WI died Monday, October 12, 2020 at her home. She was born October 24, 1934 in Pepin County, WI; daughter of Archie and Bessie (Richardson) Coburn. While attending high school, JoAnn worked as a waitress at Clara's Café in Durand. She graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1952.

On February 5, 1956 she married Merle Stewart at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they owned the Stockholm Café and the Short Stop in Stockholm, where they sold food, drinks, fishing licenses, and anything that people could need. JoAnn was known for her delicious taco soup. She loved serving people, cooking, baking, especially over the holidays. She loved to entertain at home with family and friends.

She was a collector of cook books, and enjoyed watching cooking shows. She enjoyed going for motorcycle rides to look at the beautiful fall colors. She also enjoyed going to the Stockholm Art Fair with Merle. JoAnn provided child care for many years, along with selling Colorado peaches with Merle.

She is survived by her husband, Merle of River Falls, Wisconsin two daughters Cheryl Stewart of Woodbury, Minnesota and Kelly Stewart of River Falls, Wisconsin special son-in-law Jim (Kathy) Rodester, grandchildren Leann (Tyler) Jenson, Eric Rodewald (Carly), Patsi (Jim) Evans, Sally Stewart Olson, Haley Stewart, step-grandchildren, Jacob (Gina) Hinrichs, Emmy (Luke) Husfloen, great-grandchildren Annalise, Taryn and Sophia Larson, Harper Jensen, Leo Jensen and Alexia, Lily and Audrey Evans, Jewels and Chance Olson also many nieces, nephews cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Archie and Bessie Coburn, son Steven Stewart, infant grandson Joseph Rodewald, step great-grandson Logan Hinrichs, brother Eldon Coburn, two sisters Elaine Lamphere and Isabelle Ebensperger.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. at Goodrich Funeral Home in Durand. Masks and social distancing are required. To express on-line condolences, visit obituaries at www.goodrichfh.com
