Linda Mae (Grippen) Tollefson

Linda Mae (Grippen) Tollefson, 74, passed into the arms of her loving Savior on Friday, June 23, 2023 at the Plum City Care Center. She was the youngest of four children and was born to Edmund and Leona (Lindstrom) Grippen on June 22, 1949 in Durand, WI.

Linda attended Durand Schools and graduated with the class of 1967. She went on to complete a two-year course in Cosmetology in Eau Claire, WI and passed Wisconsin state licensing requirements before learning she was allergic to the chemicals used in her profession.

True to form, Linda persevered in her pursuit of other employment, working at Arcadia Fryers first and later at Ashley Furniture, where she spent 35 years and rose to a management positions before retiring. While working at Ashley, Linda met the love of her life, Duaine Tollefson, and they married on September 14, 1985. The lived in Pigeon Falls, WI for many years before moving to Linda’s hometown of  Durand, after both retired from Ashley.

Linda is survived by her brother, Lee Grippen, of Caledonia, MN; her sister, Jane Jafferi, of Durand; sister-in-law, Terry Grippen of  Niagra, WI; her nephews, Jon Grippen( Minneapolis, MN) and Jacob Grippen (Spring Grove, MN); her nieces, Zahida Leech (Baldwin,WI) and Rachel (David) Storlie (Spring Grove, MN); and her  great-nieces, Kennedy and Hannah, and great-nephew, Isaiah.

Linda is preceded in death by her husband, Duaine; her parents; her brother, Kerry Grippen; her grandparents; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who went before her.

Her memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 10 at Faith Lutheran Church in Durand, with Pastor Bethany Walker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be private at a later date.

Memorials received by the family will be used to establish permanent memorials in Linda’s honor in several locations in Wisconsin.
