Roger Scottie Stewart, 85, of Stockholm, WI died Thursday, October 5, 2023 at his home surrounded by family after a 20 month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on January 28, 1938 in Ella, WI; son of Oscar and Elva (Lewis) Stewart. Roger grew up helping on his family’s dairy farm in Bogus (Stockholm), WI, where he also attended his early school years.
He graduated from Pepin High School in 1956. Following high school, Roger joined the United States Navy and served for 4 years. After his service in the Navy, he joined the Corp of Engineers, where he worked his way up to head lockman at Lock and Dam #3-Red Wing, MN. He retired after 37 years.
On July 16, 1959 he married Sharon Kruempel in Wabasha, MN. They spent most of their married life in the Stockholm, WI area where they built a beautiful life along with their family. Roger took pride in his home and was very handy and neighborly.
Roger was a member of the Durand-Pepin Masonic Lodge. He served on the Stockholm Town Board for 25 years and the Pepin County Board for 4 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and camping and shared his knowledge and skills with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Being part of their lives was an experience he was most thankful for. He proudly spoke of them often.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Stewart; children, Scott Stewart, Bill (Paula) Stewart, Kim (Randy) Marcks, Kristie (Brad) Hagen; 10 grandchildren, Matthew (Danielle) Stewart, Sarah (Brad) Hovden, Joshua (Nicole) Stewart, Jessica Pommerening, Rachel (Ray) Pommerening, Amanda (Eric) Carlson, Joseph (Courtney) Marcks, Kalysta (Ryan) Leschishin, Erik (Cissy) Hagen, Jared (Julianna Erickson) Hagen; 20 great-grandchildren, Oliver, Finnley, Mirabelle, Preslee, Krew, Jaxson, Lexi, Baylee, Avery, Jack, Logan, Aubrey, Tristan, Ryan, Kennedy, Clay, Wyatt, Charlie, Ella, Cora; siblings, Rose, Ruth, Ronald, Phyllis, Elvin, Carl, Clifford, Theresa, Victoria, Mark
He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elva (Lewis) Stewart; two brothers, Jack and Oscar Jr.
