Violet F. Winberg, 96, of Eau Claire passed away on October 13th, with family by her side. She was born on April 18th, 1927 in Minnetonka, MN to Pete and Hannah (Hagstrom) Liljevall who immigrated from Sweden. Violet was the first child, joined 2 years later by her brother Melvin and 5 years later by her sister Marion. They grew up in a cottage on Lake Minnetonka in Mound Minnesota.
Vi graduated with honors from Mound High School in 1945. She married Curt Selvig in 1952 and together they raised 4 children in Minnesota and on Lake Pepin in Stockholm, WI. They divorced in 1990 and Curt passed away in 1992.
In 1992, Violet married Lonnie Winberg and added Lonnie's extended family to her own. Lonnie joined Violet in her passion of dancing and polka fests. They shared many wonderful trips together over the 11 short but wonderful years together before Lonnie died in 2003.
During her lifetime, Violet worked at various places like Owens, Riviera Kitchens, the Pepin Library, and the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum as an Executive Assistant, Bookkeeper, Director and Volunteer. Vi enjoyed camping every labor day weekend with some of her kids and grand kids and the Winberg families in the Wisconsin Dells, creating many wonderful memories. Vi's favorite activities were spending time with friends and family, attending church, traveling, dancing, bingo, bowling and playing cards. She loved spending winters in Arizona.
Violet is survived by her children, Ron (Mona) Selvig of Bloomington, MN Carol (Don) Linse of Forestville, WI, and Cheryl (Gary) Herbison of Eau Claire, WI, as well as grandchildren Arika, Amelia, Nick, Leisha, Ryan, Rachel, Jessica, Andrew, Megan and Madelyn and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister, husband Lonnie and her youngest son Bob.
A private graveside service/celebration of life will be held.
